Life Transitions
Change can be hard, even when it’s welcome.
Life transitions, whether planned or unexpected, can shake our sense of identity, stability, and direction. Even when a change is "positive," it can still bring grief, anxiety, confusion, or overwhelm.
What Are Life Transitions?
Life transitions are any significant changes that shift the structure of your life. These changes may come with mixed emotions—hope, grief, fear, excitement, or all of the above.
You might be going through:
A relationship beginning, ending, or shifting
Starting college or a new job
Career changes or job loss
Moving to a new place
Coming out or exploring your identity
Becoming a parent—or deciding not to
Divorce, separation, or co-parenting
Illness, caregiving, or loss of a loved one
Entering a new phase of life (e.g., midlife, retirement)
These transitions can leave you feeling ungrounded or uncertain. Therapy offers a space to pause, process, and reorient, so you can move forward with intention.
It’s okay not to have it all figured out.
Transitions often bring up big questions, like “Who am I now? What’s next?” It’s okay not to have all the answers. Therapy gives you a space to explore those questions with kindness and curiosity.
